Helicopter flights

In Kissimmee and Orlando are several businesses which offer helicopter flight packages, varying from a few minutes to about an hour. The helicopters fly over Kissimmee and Orlando, most packages include flying near the theme parks. There is a no-fly zone over Disney World, so the helicopters can view these theme parks from a little distance. But you can still spot enough theme park landmarks. For tours check these sites:

Kelly Park

Kelly Park features a free-flowing natural spring (approx. 70 degrees Fahrenheit) which is a popular place for people to unwind or cool off in the summer. It's located North of Orlando, it takes about an hour to get there from the Kissimmee area. Take your own inner tube or rent one near the entrance of the park and flow down the spring. Or take your snorkel gear with you and a waterproof camera to make some pictures or video of the fish and other creatures along the banks. Due to the high popularity you might experience traffic congestion. Be sure to come early, when Kelly Park has reached it's maximum capacity, the park closes for new visitors. Take a waterproof bag with you for your car keys and phone, no lockers on site, also no dogs allowed.

iFLY Orlando

iFLY Orlando - Indoor skydiving

One of the coolest things on International Drive is iFly Orlando. If you are afraid to jump out of a plane to experience a free fall sensation, this is the place to be. It is safe, you don't need a parachute to land on your feet and you don't even need experience! On your arrival, they will instruct you how to behave in the wind tunnel and learn to fly. After that it's fun time! This experience isn't only meant for adults, this is also absolutely fun for children. Children from 3 years and up are allowed in the wind tunnel and are accompanied by an instructor. The flights take up to 1-1.5 minutes a flight.

Swim with Manatees

Swim/Snorkel with manatees

Manatees are friendly giants and sometimes known as 'sea cows'. They can grow up to 12 feet (about 3.6 meters) and are herbivorous marine mammals. They can weigh up to 1,200 pounds (about 550kg). In winter time these mammals look for warm springs. Crystal River, FL is one of these places. In the USA it is not allowed to interact with manatees, except for Crystal River. It's the only place where you can take a tour to watch these beautiful and gentle giants swim and float around. A lot ot the manatees have a lot of scars on their backs, because of speed boats and such, mistaking them for something else or just not looking or caring for them.

With snorkel gear you float in the water, the manatees will come up to you themselves. You don't go over to them yourself. Let them see for themselves what is going on. They are quite curious. Best time to go on a tour is in the winter, but also in the summer some stick around the springs. Don't forget to swim in Three Sisters Springs, even if there are no manatees, the water is so clear, you can see many fish!

Here are some suggestions for tour companies in Crystal River,FL:

River Ventures
Captain Mike's Swimming with the Manatees
Birds Underwater
