Discounts and savings

When you visit the Orlando and Kissimmee area, the first thing to do to get discounts is by visiting a visitor center of a store like Wal-Mart. At the entrance, lots of free magazines and flyers are for the taking. For example, Enjoy Florida is a good magazine with lots of discounts. Not only for dining or dinner shows, but also for attractions, golf and shopping.

Take a peek at their coupon book (until April 2020), of which you of course can print discounts and show them on your way in, where ever you are going. This way you can save yourself some money to spend it on other things while on your holiday!

Another great way to get your coupons is by using the Osceola Restaurant Guide, they have their own website. On the website you can click on a discount and print it as much as you want. For example discounts for New York Pizza, Chick-fil-a, Capone's Dinner and Show, Black Angus Steakhouse, Rio Mexican Grill and Passage to India.

The Official Restaurant Guide of Osceola is available free of charge at over 200 hotels/motels, campgrounds, villa's, vacation homes, car rentals, gift shops and tourist information locations.

To pick up a copy visit any of the Kissimmee Distribution locations (list can be found on their website) or look for one of their outside newspaper boxes located along US Highway 192. Check the addresses on the coupons for which restaurants are participating.

Tipping and discounts

When you leave a tip, but you have used a coupon, you should tip over the amount of money which it would have cost you without the discount. Of course you don't tip Uncle Sam, so that's for the amount without tax.

Airline miles

Another great way to get some discounts is by joining a miles program of your favorite airline. For example I am a member of the United Mileage Plus program, which grants me (and also you, if you join) every 60.000 miles a free flight to any destination in the United States. You earn miles by flying to your destination, but you can also earn extra miles by renting a car through their website or booking hotel stays. For each night you will get at least 1000 miles. At more expensive hotels you will get a lot more miles so you will be closer to your free flight to anywhere!

To earn extra miles, you can use the RocketMiles.com program. By using this link you will get 1000 miles extra to your account. If you are new to Rocket MIles and book your first hotel stay, you will even get 3000 extra miles if you book before the 31st of March 2016. Yes, that's 4000 extra miles with the click of a mousebutton! Some miles programs will let miles expire if you don't add them regularly (I think United lets them expire if you don't fly every 18 months), because you can book hotels anywhere in the world, even close to home, you can keep the balance active by booking a hotel every now and then. Next to that you can always buy miles, but 1000 miles will cost you $35 at United. Why waste money if you can get them by renting a hotelroom every now and then?

Only free flights with those miles? No, they can be used for so much more. Use miles (instead of money) to: book hotel rooms, book car rentals, book your dream cruise, go to concerts or Broadway shows, shop, dine or subscribe to popular magazines. If you already joined a miles program, good for you! If you haven't yet, what are you waiting for???

Cheaper theme park tickets

When you buy tickets at the entrance of a theme park, the price is most times higher than when buying tickets online. Two safe websites/companies are Maple Leaf Tickets and Undercover Tourist. If you are in the Kissimmee area, you can even pickup the tickets yourself at the Maple Leaf motel on the US192. In front of the motel is a small building where you can buy your tickets. Behind the counter you can see the day prices, though you can also find them online. Don't pay too much for your tickets!
